This site shows driving-time-based accessibility to stroke care in Germany. In some regions, it may clinically significantly faster to drive to the nearest hospital with a CT unit and ship with running intravenous thrombolysis rather than priamry transporting to the next certified stroke unit once a stroke is suspected.

Get started: Use the tabs above to choose between States or Counties, then select a region from the dropdown to view its isochrone map and download the data.
The initial graph shows you three conditions:
- 1. Shows you availability of hospitals with a CT.
- 2. Shows you availability of hospitals that frequently (>= 100/year) treat stroke patients or are a stroke unit.
- 3. Shows you availability of hospitals that have certified stroke units.
The second graph shows you the benefit of driving to the nearest hospital with a CT and shipping with running intravenous thrombolysis rather than primary transport to the next certified stroke unit/ frequent stroke-care hospital once a stroke is suspected.
CT and stroke care data is based on 2023 quality reports, stroke unit data is based on a data pull from February 2025.
